Streamlight announced the new Strion LED HP flashlight at the 2010 SHOT Show. The HP is the next evolution of the Strion flashlight, bringing a much brighter light and strobe function to the compact flashlight.
From Streamlight:
Streamlight®, a leading provider of lighting equipment for law enforcement, tactical and military professionals, has introduced a high performance version of its popular compact Strion® LED rechargeable flashlight, the Strion® LED HP. The new model provides approximately 400 percent greater peak beam intensity than earlier models, using C4® power LED technology to deliver extraordinary brightness.
Like its predecessor, the Strion LED HP offers three microprocessor-controlled variable light intensity modes as well as a strobe function, designed to give law enforcement and tactical personnel all the advantages of previous Strion models, along with even greater brightness, utility and durability. The light also features an exceptionally long range targeting beam for use over long distances.
At its high setting, the Strion LED HP provides 38,000 candela peak beam intensity and 160 lumens measured system output. The light features a multi-function, push-button tactical tail button switch, allowing for easy, one-handed operation of the light’s momentary, variable intensity or strobe modes, and can be mounted on weapons using Streamlight’s accessory rail mounts.
“The Strion LED HP, in addition to being incredibly bright, significantly extends the long-range illumination capabilities of the LED tactical flashlight by reaching over long distances, giving tactical and law enforcement professionals additional flexibility in deployment,” said Streamlight President Ray Sharrah. “It’s an ideal choice for a variety of SWAT, special ops and weapon-mounted applications, such as night-time outdoor searches or other investigations.”
The light uses a power C4 LED bulb which has a 50,000-hour lifetime and is also impervious to shock. It also features a deep-dish parabolic reflector that produces a long-range targeting beam over a distance of over 1,200 feet on the high setting, with optimum peripheral illumination to aid in navigation. In addition to the high setting, the light offers a medium setting which provides 80 lumens measured system output and 20,000 candela peak beam intensity over a range of more than 900 feet. On the low setting, the light delivers 40 lumens measured system output and 10,000 candela peak beam intensity over a distance of more than 650 feet. The lens is made of unbreakable polycarbonate with a scratch-resistant coating and is O-ring sealed.
The Strion LED HP offers a run time of up to 2 continuous hours at the high setting, up to 4 continuous hours on medium setting and up to 7.5 continuous hours on the low setting. The strobe function operates for up to 5.5 continuous hours.
Constructed of 6000 series machined aircraft aluminum with an anodized finish, the Strion LED HP weighs only 7.1 ounces and measures 7 inches in length. Powered by a lithium ion battery that is rechargeable up to 500 times, the light fits all existing Strion chargers. It features a snap-in charger holder with digital control circuitry to prevent overcharging and a charge base LED to indicate charge status. The battery can be fully recharged in three hours.
Available in a black finish, the Strion LED HP features an IPX4 design for water resistant operation. It is backed by Streamlight’s limited lifetime warranty, and has been tested to the ANSI/NEMA F-1 Flashlight Standard. The suggested retail price for the Strion LED HP is $196.00.
