With the recent upsurge in civil protests, and outright riots, I thought it would be interesting to review the new T4.1 series paintball marker rifle offered by Tiberius Arms. The T4.1 paint ball marking rifle is designed on the AR-15 platform, but is a dedicated paint ball marking rifle. The large CO2 charging canister is located inside of the modified stock, yet the stock’s innovative design still allows some adjustments for shooter adaptability.
The new Tiberius T4.1 series is a dedicated paintball rifle platform, alleviating any potential for negligent discharges of live ammunition. This is a critical and necessary design feature. In addition there are accessories available in less lethal orange to make the T4.1 even more recognizable as a less lethal device and not a live-fire lethal firearm.
The T4.1 is designed to use the Tiberius patented 10 or 14 round magazines, but also has an adaptor to allow a standard hopper with larger capacity. One of the most unique features of the T4.1 paintball rifle is the integrated 13ci/3000psi tank/stock combo. This allows the user to shoulder the T4.1 much like they would a standard AR-15. There is also an option of using a 12 gram C02 cartridge in the magazine to maintain a more compact profile, with standard AR-15 stocks.
The Tiberius Arms T4.1 uses an integrated regulator and fixed air chamber that provides low pressure operation, while still produces superior blow forward efficiency. The T4.1 paintball rifle features the LAPCO .683 FSR Rifled Barrel and is designed and made in the USA!

Practical Applications
The chamber of the Tiberius Arms T4.1 is slightly larger than the proprietary Pepper Ball design, so it is very likely that the OC balls will not work in this launcher. However, the particular marketing of this paintball rifle goes beyond the application of a small amount of chemical agents. As our friends at The Firearm Blog have reported, the Singapore Police are already fielding a model with less lethal orange furniture, making the Tiberius Arms T4.1 even more appealing.
The Tiberius Arms T4.1 is meant to mark individuals with paint so they can be identified and distinguished from the masses in the crowd. By marking them, officers can more appropriately target actions to those who are most problematic in riots, protests, and large crowd gatherings.
During the most chaotic civil unrest one of the most difficult responsibilities of law enforcement is to identify the leaders and antagonists in the crowd. What becomes even more difficult is when there is a legitimate, and lawful protest with rioters and criminals intermingled within.
It is in those times and circumstances that law enforcement must look outside of the traditional crowd control tactics. Deploying force movements, area chemical agents, and other means that affect the entire crowd are not only improper, they can be counterproductive and trample the line of legality and morality.
Specific Action Plans During Chaos
That is where a device like the Tiberius Arms T4.1 can be extremely beneficial. The T4.1 has a rifle barrel providing a decent level of accuracy to shots within an effective range of around 50 yards. The application of marking paintball rounds allows police commanders on the scene to target specific individuals that are violating the law and using the umbrella of protest as a cover for riotous and criminal actions. This has been particularly problematic in recent protest events.
With the markings of specific trouble makers, police can make tactical movements to separate, arrest, and remove the problems, without necessarily making a large-scale movement against the whole body of protestors. One by one or group by group the true evil-doers get removed, with the minimal amount of interference to the valid protestors.
Specific actions such as these have proven to be acceptable and even encouraged by the lawful crowd, and is a means to garner support from even the sensational-crazed media.
