Revision announced a new protective lens that is designed to protect officers from lasers in addition to providing ballistic protection.
The new LazrBloc GF-8 Laser Protective Ballistic Lens blocks 99.9% of green laser energy and more than 99% of the most powerful near-infrared component of commercial green lasers. The protective component is a dye that can be added to the ballistic lenses the company makes.
A side benefit of the patented dye is that it offers superior visible light transmission and more accurate color recognition than comparable products on the market. This means the lens can be worn in day and night conditions.
While laser incidents tend to make the news when an aircraft is targeted by a laser, there have been numerous incidents of officers being assaulted in riots and demonstrations throughout the world including the United States. One person with a bright green laser can affect numerous officers in a skirmish line very easily. It goes without saying that a coordinated laser attack followed by a physical attack could be catastrophic.
“We have always prided ourselves on our advanced protective eyewear solutions,” said Jim Hester, Vice President, Optics at Revision, “and this means identifying and adapting to new and more complex threats. Laser strikes are no longer just a military concern, they are an increasingly prevalent reality for many operating in the private sector. Revision is leading the way by providing an efficient and leading solution with the new LazrBloc GF-8 laser protective ballistic lenses.”
The lenses are available in the company’s StingerHawk line as well as its Exoshield Extreme Low-Profile Eyewear and prescription compatible military spectacle and goggle lines.

In the three years that I have owned my kit, I have gotten exceptionally good service out of them. They look nearly as good today as they did brand new. The lenses are easy to swap out, yet are very secure when snapped into place. They may not be cheap, but they are there to protect your eyes. Do you really want budget eye pro?
