Trijicon has added a 1-6x24mm scope to their Accupoint line of rifle scopes. This will be one more offering in an ever-increasing demand for optics that provide both reflexive shooting for close encounters, and variable magnification when precision or distance shots are necessary.
Previously BlueSheepDog reported on the Trijicon VCOG 1-6x24mm rifle scope, which had some really nice features, but also came with a hefty price tag. The Trijicon Accupoint 1-6x24mm scope is not cheap but comes with a price tag nearly half that of the VCOG.

At the 6x power magnification the MOA (Minute of Angle) Crosshair reticle can be used as your personal bullet drop compensation (BDC) reticle. If the shooter sets up their particular rifle and cartridge in a ballistic calculator, they can know exactly where your holdovers should be with the 5 MOA spaced, 1.25 MOA dots. The shooter can also use the MOA reticle pattern to size and range the desired target. Once the proper range is determined the shooter can use the fine dot fiber optic and crosshair to complete those critical shots.
Adjustments to the fiber optic brightness can be made with the dial on top of the optic bell.
Brightness levels on the fiber optic aiming point can be adjusted with the innovative illumination dial to give the shooter confidence with shot placement in low light conditions until the tritium light kicks in.

Trijicon Accupoint TR25 Series Reticles
As a law enforcement sniper, and lifelong hunter, I really appreciate good glass and a good reticle. The Trijicon Accupoint TR25 Series rifle scope comes with six reticle options. The six options are shown and listed below:

Of all the TR25 Series reticles my favorite is the [easyazon_link identifier=”B00VXLTLTQ” locale=”US” tag=”bluesheecom-20″]MOA-Dot crosshair[/easyazon_link]. This option provides a thicker bar at the edges of the horizontal and the bottom vertical, but only about halfway into the optic image. This provide a nice guide for the eye to find the center, without being so close to center to be a hinderance to the view of the target. The fine reticle lines have MOA windage and elevation marks that can act as a BDC aim point, and the center of the reticle is an illuminated fine dot for outstanding aiming point.
The standard Duplex crosshair and German #4 crosshair are way too large in my opinion, and create too much interference with the shooter’s view downrange. The Mil-Dot crosshair is decent, especially if you are proficient with range and target estimations using Mil-Dots, and the larger lines at the edges are much shorter than the MOA-Dot. However, the overall crosshair is not as fine, and the Mil-Dots across both vertical and horizontal crosshairs make this one crowded as well.
The BAC triangle is an interesting tribute to old iron sights with a circle rear sight, but would only be practical in more short distance and reflexive shooting situations. The Criss-Cross crosshair is a decent option, particularly in reflexive or competition shooting, but I’m not a fan of the small circle around the center. It’s too big and distracting to my view of the target, but it may work well with your uses.
The Benefits of Cross-Over Rifle Scopes
There are many benefits of what I call “cross-over” rifle scopes. Not too many years ago a shooter had to choose between a reflex (red dot) optic, or a magnified rifle scope. There just wasn’t anything really has been the tremendous growth of competition shooting, especially 3-gun, that led shooters to demand a mixed rifle scope providing reflex capabilities and low magnification as well. Manufacturers heard the demand, and saw the potential, and started with the 1-4x scopes. Since then a variety of 1-6x scopes have hit the market, as well as a few [easyazon_link identifier=”B016CRP4NM” locale=”US” tag=”bluesheecom-20″]1-8x rifle scopes[/easyazon_link].
